The personal blender has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I remember the first glass blender my family had, making protein shakes with raw eggs and freaking out my friends. Design That Demands to Be Seen
The design of the Beast blenders is all intentional. It was really interesting to learn during my research that the number of ridges inside the blender makes a difference.
On the old, entry-level ones, you had 3 ridges. These were there to help break up whatever was being blended. In the Beast blenders, that entire vessel is full of ridges. Not only does it give the blenders a high-end, fancy look, but it is also functional.
Other notable features include:
- A heavy-duty, grippy TPE base provides stability, dampens vibration, and gives it just enough weight to feel high-end and durable.
- Available in 3 colours – Carbon Black (black), Sage (soft green), and Sand (beige). The system perfectly complements a warm, mid-century modern aesthetic. More colours and styles are available in the US, which you can view here.
- Space-Saving Profile: Despite housing a massive motor, the slender base takes up minimal countertop real estate.
The two models available in Canada are the Mega 1200 Plus and the Mighty 850 plus. The Mega 1200 Plus will you a total of CAD $279/ USD $219. The Mighty 850 Plus goes for CAD $189 / USD $149.
In the US they have a few more options available for each blender. They’ve recently released stainless steel versions of the blenders for better insulation. They also have a mini 600 option, with a more compact design at an entry-level price.
I’ve got the Mega 1200 Plus, so I’d like to go a little more in depth about my experience with this blender.
The Mega 1200: A High-Speed, Blending Beast
The Beast Mega 1200 is the crown jewel of the lineup. As the name suggests, it has a 1200-watt motor. This means it has serious blending power, and your frozen fruit won’t stand a chance against it. It actually gives me 2x the power of my previous personal blender and it is shocking – and also so satisfying – how well this blends.
I hate to say it, but if my smoothies and shakes have the wrong texture, I have a hard time finishing them. It is incredibly wasteful, but sometimes I just can’t get past weird textures. With this blender, I don’t have to worry about waste. The texture is always correct.
Speaking of avoiding waste, the Beast Health Mega 1200 Plus blender has a very smart feature. The motor automatically slows down every 20 seconds during the one-minute cycle to allow ingredients to fall back down into the blade, eliminating the need for a manual tamper. No more taking the blender off, violently shaking it, and then popping it back on, totally clueless to how long you’ve been running the motor. No more wasting your energy or your power.
I also really appreciate how many accessories this blender comes with. You get 3 different sizes of vessels for sauces, soups, and smoothies, 2 lids, 2 straws and their cleaner, and a straw lid and a handle lid. There are so many great products out there that sell you the bare minimum at the highest price, and then ask you to pay $100 to get the useful accessories.
